LGRS Open House Tour - Prince Edward Terminal Railroad - 08-23-14

(Blog Entry by Bob)

LGRS - Prince Edward Terminal Railroad - RICK &  BARB   August 23, 2014

London Garden Railroad Society had it's annual open house on August 23rd.  My dad and I jumped into car and drove to visit a selection of their member's layouts. I am going to feature some railroads that I took photographs of over the upcoming weeks (with the owners permission of course).

I had the pleasure of being welcomed into the home of Rick and Barb to see both their indoor and outdoor layouts

Outside, they had three trains travelling around and I could have spent hours listening to the click-clicking of the wheels on the track. They have an inpressive Campbell Soups train.

I was amazed at their basement layout. Previously, I had only seen point-to-point shelf layouts or large loops that monopolized an entire room. They used only a corner of their basement and managed to fit in everything you would dream of in a layout with a bridge, buildings, road crossings, sidings, industries and loops. The best part is that it is built on 4 ft high glass cabinets so you are at eye level with the action and the extra trains store underneath.

Rock Canyon in G-Scale Train Land 08-16-14

(Blog Entry by Bob)

I have slowly made progress on my rock canyon after
alternating my nights: cleaning the garage, visiting
friends and updating the train layout.  I still have
to do some fine grading and levelling of the ballast
and landscaping on the top of the hill above the rock
cut. Today I took a break of all my chores to run a couple of trains.

Running Trains on a Long Weekend in G-Scale Garden Railway Train Land - 08-09-14

(Blog Entry by Bob)

It is hard to believe that it is August already.  Though July has been a cool month, it is hot and humid today (Sunday, August 3rd) running trains and taking pictures.

The weeds have been left to grow like crazy and have been neglected over the past couple of weeks. I have been spending my time creating a train storage room and just started working on the rock canyon where the tunnels once stood in the layout.

With so many projects on the go, I was glad to find some time to run some trains.
