(Blog Entry by Bob)
London Garden Railroad Society had its annual open house on
August 23rd. My dad and I jumped into the car and drove to visit a selection of
their member's layouts. I am going to feature some railroads that I took
photographs of over the upcoming weeks (with the owners permission of
course).
6th & last stop of the day. Terry & Diane's layout takes up their entire backyard and side-yards. This layout has everything: train storage house (6 rails wide), several bridges, tunnels, a golf course, farms, towns, brewery, lumber yard, oil refinery, ponds and a big mountain for mining. I was overwhelmed with everything and as I circled I kept finding details that I had missed before. I loved the use of Mini-beer kegs and propane tanks for structures in the refinery and brewery. They had used many ideas and technics I'd never seen used before making the whole layout a fantastic inspiration of what a layout can become. My photos could not capture the whole splendor of what they have created.
