Worth the Trip to Alliston, Ontario
On Wednesday, July 28, 2010 we decided to take a road trip to Alliston, Ontario to another train store named Hockley Valley Railroad . We had logged on to their site the night before to find out their store would not be open until 1:30pm that day.
We decided we might just stop off at the Bass Pro Shop in Vaughn first to kill some time, but once we got onto the 403, things turns bad. Turns out there was an asphalt spill just up the road. Traffic was be detoured but what should of taken a 2 minute ride to the off-ramp did total two hours of stop & go traffic. Just as we were approaching the off-ramp all lanes of the 403 reopened. Wish it had come sooner before we were rearended by an impatient driver who as I took a photo of his license plate in the side mirror took off like a shot up the gravel (no road) to get away from us and dart back into traffic. Grrrrrrrrrr (yes, we have some small scrapes on the bumper).
It was now past 1:30pm closer to 2:30pm so we decided to go with our first plan to Hockley Valley Railroad. We got inside the store and they have a really good selection of instock G-scale buildings. I was really hoping for the building which looks like it was on fire but they were out of stock. I was basically drooling over everything. Bob then turns to me and says "well, I don't see anything too exciting that I need" I stopped. WHAT!!?!?! We sat in 2 hours of stop & go traffic to get here in the blazing hot humid sun and he decides he doesn't want anything? "You are buying at least one thing Mr." I said. "ohhhhhhhhh" he replied. What to pick what to pick.
Ends up we bought three items that day. A bridge, a mansion (for a haunted house set up) and a cute yellow cottage.
Bob started working on his bridge and completed it within a 12 hour period. Here's the pics.
