Good Friday to be working on the G-Scale Layout - 04-22-2011

Finally!!!  A day without rain.     It was overcast and a bit cool, but that didn't stop Bob from going outside to get working on his G-Scale Train layout.  We had previously had to move all the track, etc... as we were having some work done to the big GIGGLE tree in the backyard, having some big branches removed.

While moving some logs around he located a tiny little baby bunny hiding under some wood in the backyard. I know you can't tell from the photo, but this thing was smaller than my hand!! Maybe it is the Baby Easter Bunny. teehee!

Speaking about bunnies, we took a picture a week ago of a bunny hiding in the tunnel of the train set. Maybe this is the mommy or daddy bunny of the baby bunny?  LOL

With all the rain we had the past few weeks, the sump pump has been going a little crazy and it kicks out into the layout..........    PERFECT excuse for a photo op!!!!!

Bob was cleaning out an area to place another train bridge he built, he was using a chain saw to cut through some roots of the tree when all of a sudden a pair of scissors came whipping out of the ground at him.   They were a good foot down in the ground under a big tree root- so weird!!?  They weren't ours, he also found some other interesting items, something that resembles pencil lead (but isn't), a greenish stone, and a piece of porcelin with a design on it.

And here is the train bridge - not as fancy as the one we posted about earlier....   (NOTE The fancy one is for sale, see link below)

Later in the afternnoon, I was working upstairs on a painting and Bob was still outside.  I heard a train horn and decided to run downstairs to see what it was. I could see Bob making his way to the backyard so I decided to grab my camera - lucky day! As you can see in the following video, a Loram Ballast Train decided to make an appearance!!

More Graffiti & the newest member of our G-Scale Town

The weather has been cooler and wet which means staying inside to do some projects.

Bob wanted to add more graffiti to some of his train cars.   He quickly looked up some new graffiti tags and graphics online and came up with these:

He added a Cookie Monster head to one he previously had tagged with the word DOINK.

He added this cute little ape guy to this one he had previously tagged with Freeze Pop.

And to this car he added the cute aliens & a tag.

A couple of weeks back we went to an antique store that had some toys. Bob found some cute figurines that were approx. g-scale size and purchased them to repaint as they were in "previously loved" condition. So he decided to paint this little fireman up. Yaaay! We have a fire fighter to add to our town.

He forgot to take a before picture, but luckily found one on Ebay which he has borrowed.

And this is what it looked like after he painted it.
